1931, by Edgar Cayce (1877-1945)
A.R.E is currently run by Hugh Lynn Cayce, son of Edgar Cayce.
A.R.E. was created to study the sayings of Edgar Cayce, known by some as the "sleeping prophet", so named because he was said to go into a trance or sleep-like state while he made psychic "readings". Before he died in 1945, Cayce had made over 14,000 such readings of religious, philosophical and medical nature. His readings tended to support such ideas as reincarnation, belief in the existence of supernatural "Ascended Masters", auras, mythical places such as Atlantis, and holistic health. Many concepts of the New Age Movement are drawn from Cayce's readings.
